PRESS RELEASE FOR OUR JULY 9, 2017 SALE
 
William Jenack’s auction of July 9, 2017 will feature a number of vintage folk art trade signs, jewelry, porcelain, bronzes, antique and mid-century furnishings, oriental carpets, Islamic bowls, Chinese art and porcelain and fine art.
Fine art offerings include an oil on canvas of a fully rigged schooner by James G. Tyler (American 1855-1931) (Tyler’s work as celebrated during his lifetime to great acclaim, so much so that forgers were reproducing his work during his lifetime. Tyler took legal action against the forgers though the New York District Attorney’s office successfully closing them down.); oil on canvas of red horses by David Burliuk (Russian/American 1882-1967); oil on canvas sunset landscape by Alexis Podchernikoff (Russian/American 1886-1933); oil on canvas San Francisco by Edna Marie Schmidt (American 1912-1999); English School oil on canvas of flowers and bird’s nest; Dutch School oil on cradled panel the Cobbler’s family.
Furnishing to be sold include Art Moderne dressing table, Victorian ladies writing desk, Henkel-Harris Chippendale style mahogany lowboy, French inlaid fruitwood chest of drawers signed “Atelier de La Medeleine”, 18th century pine blanket chest, Federal style settee, French Empire style bronze mounted armchair, French walnut and burl inlaid armoire, Chippendale walnut step-back cupboard most likely Pennsylvania 18/19th century, Federal style bench made faux painted cabinet, French style carved and ormolu mounted bureau plat with marble top, Renaissance Revival walnut center table with inset marble top, leather Chesterfield sofa, pair of French leather club chairs, Chippendale style butler’s tray table.
Folk art and trade signs include a pair of restaurant figural signs of a man eating a sandwich and a woman drinking from a cup, a carved wooden pig with partial paint, a beautifully carved theater figure of a Harlequin and equally nice dancing woman, painted metal opticians sign, locksmith carved and gilt key form trade sign, carved and polychromed wood Cleopatra, figural apothecary trade sign of a man with a pill on his tongue, mixed medium hanging sculpture “Liberty Angel” by James Mangum, folk art carved wood bust of a golfer, tin stork weathervane.
Also selling will be a large collection of sterling silver and gemstone jewelry including bracelets, rings, pendants and necklaces.
Other lots of note are a vintage Wurlitzer Model 1015 jukebox in remarkable original condition, a Kawai Model KG-1C baby grand piano, Queen Anne Japanned lacquer tall case clock 18th century, large Chinese Blanc de Chine figures of Kwan Yin, Jaeger-LeCoultre “Atmos” clock, bronze after Agathon Leonard of a Arab on camel, vintage 10 cent Vendo Coca Cola machine and much more.
